Musculoskeletal

This includes all types of manual therapy such as mobilization, manipulation, muscle energy techniques, deep tissue work and soft tissue release. Our emphasis is on a hands on approach coupled with rehabilitation exercises and advise. We look at the body as a whole to ensure we address any negative movement patterns and rule out any compensations as a result of dysfunction elsewhere in the body.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a scientifically based treatment for myofascial trigger points based on western medicine research and principles. It is mainly used to treat pain and dysfunction caused by muscle problems. A very thin needle is used which is inserted into the myofascial trigger point.

The myofascial trigger point was defined by Dr. Travell and Simons as a ‘hyperirritable spot in skeletal muscle’. The trigger point is a painful spot found on a taut band in the muscle which produces local pain on compression but can also refer pain, inhibit muscle activation and restrict range of motion. Releasing these points can help restore normal pain free movement.
